American Snowboarder Kevin Pearce remains in critical condition after being injured Thursday during training for the upcoming Olympic trials, having suffered 'traumatic brain injury', his doctor said.
Pearce, a half-pipe snowboarder, is in the intensive care unit at University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, according to a Facebook page setup by his family and friends.
Doctors have said they will monitor swelling in his brain and keep brain pressure normal. Pearce is a top competitor in snowboarding having taken First Place in the Halfpipe at the 2009 Europe Open in Switzerland and Second Place in the Superpipe at the 2009 Winter X Games.
Pearce, who is 22-years-old, was raised in Norwich, Vermont.
